Danny Ings doing very well

Thursday, July 23rd, 2015

Very few are able to come through the ranks as quickly as Danny Ings has done.

It’s not that long when he was featuring for Donchester Town, a division six team at that point of time.

Just a few seasons down the line from there, he would find himself rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in the circuit in the English Premier League.

The youngster has penned a Liverpool deal recently and he is absolutely over the moon to have joined a cub with such a history about it.

Talking about his new journey and what he is looking forward to, the forward who is only 22 at the moment, said, “I can’t express my excitement. To have this opportunity coming my way this soon, it’s unbelievable. But, I know I need to work on my game even more if I have to prove myself at this level.”

“You can never allow yourself to get complacent as a player and I am not such a character to take things for granted. I believe improvement is the key for a young player and for that, you always have to put the hard yards.”

When asked about Brendan Rodgers and how he sees him as a Football manager, Ings said, “He deserves a lot of respect for his work at Liverpool over the recent years. If you are a youngster, he is exactly the type of person you want to work with because he would always back you and would give you a lot of opportunities.” (more…)

Brendan Rodgers has refused to criticise Steven Gerrard

Wednesday, April 1st, 2015

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has refused to criticise Steven Gerrard for playing a huge role in the 2-1 defeat against Manchester United. The Liverpool captain came on as a substitute at half-time, but his influence on the match lasted just 38 seconds after he was sent off for a clear stamp on Ander Herrera.

Gerrard had made a crunching tackle on Juan Mata only seconds before. The sending-off changed the game in many ways. Even though it helped Liverpool get a late equaliser through Daniel Sturridge, they were unable to push on and get the much-needed equaliser.

There was a feeling that Liverpool would not have conceded the second goal in the 59th minute if Liverpool had the full complement of players. The club could not question the decision taken by referee Martin Atkinson, as the Liverpool midfielder intentionally made a stamp onHerrera. Gerrard was expected to make a major impact in the match – after having done so in the last eight Manchester derbies. This match was especially important to the 34-year-old, as it would be his last Manchester Derby. Gerrard is leaving for LA Galaxy at the end of the season. He has already spoken about helping Liverpool finish in the top four and lift the FA Cup title before departing. (more…)
