Christian Benteke Reflects on His Time at Liverpool

Christian Benteke recently brought his time at Liverpool to an end after making a move to Crystal Palace.

He has become the record signing at the London outfit after having cost almost £ 30 million. Liverpool have been able to recoup most of the transfer fee that they paid for the striker one year ago. Brendan Rodgers expected the Belgian international to be the final piece in the jigsaw. After all, he has scored plenty of goals even with a struggling Aston Villa team and was only expected to be better at Liverpool surrounded by a number of world-class players.

This was not the case as Benteke never settled under the tactics of Rodgers. The Northern Ireland manager is someone who likes to play his football on the ground, while Benteke is at his strongest when the ball is whipped into the box with a lot of pace. The powerful presence of the Belgian couple of with his ability to attack headers made him a force to be reckoned with. Even after the exit of Rodgers midway through the season,Benteke’s situation did not improve since his replacement Jurgen Klopp also had similar tactics. Now, the striker has lashed out on those who have branded him as a flop.

Jurgen Klopp believes that Mane will be a success at Liverpool

Liverpool has announced that Southampton forward Sadio Mane has signed for the club for a reported fee of £30m.

This is the fourth Southampton player that has joined Liverpool in recent years and fans will be hoping that the player will be a success at Anfield.

However, there are some skeptics that think that this is a lot of money to spend on a player that have yet to make an impression in Europe. Fans will be afraid that Mane turns out to be another Andy Carroll or Christian Benteke, who have never fulfilled their full potential at Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp, on the other hand, believes that Sadio Mane will be a success at Liverpool. He said that he has been following the player for a long time. He said that he has been following his development ever since the 2012 Olympics and also during his time in Austria and also at Southampton.

Daniel Sturridge might be nearing the end of his Liverpool career according to Phil Thompson

Phil Thompson believes that Daniel Sturridge might be leaving Liverpool soon if ever he is not selected for the game against Villarreal.

Indeed, he was not in the team that started the game against Villarreal, and there is news that he might again not feature from the outset in the return leg. Liverpool lost the first leg 1-0 and did not come on the pitch even after his side conceded.

However, Sturridge did play in the game against Swansea, which his team lost 3-1. Phil Thompson said that Daniel Sturridge body language in the match against Swansea speak volumes about the player’s feeling and feel as if he knew that he was no longer part of Klopp’s plan.

Thompson added that it is never easy to be in this situation and that you always want to have your manager’s backing. He said that Sturridge will be desperate to feature in a game like this and that he will want to have playing time especially with the Euros coming in the summer. If ever he does not feature in the match then it would probably be the end of his Liverpool career as he would probably want to look for another club in the summer. LIVERPOOL IN MEGA-MONEY TAKEOVER DEAL

English Premier League team, Liverpool FC are reported to be involved in a mega-money takeover bid. The takeover is from the Middle East. According to Starsport, talks are at an advanced stage with prospective owners. The deal is one that would avail current head coach of The Reds huge transfer funds to acquire the best talents and take Liverpool higher.

The deal is reported to be a possibility this summer. English team, Liverpool, currently owned by Fenway Sports Group, is valued around £650m. The American sports investment company bought The Reds for £300m in October 2010. The team has since increased in value. It was ranked the eight most valuable football club by Forbes. Simon Mignoletseals his future with Liverpool

Simon Mignolet has secured his future with the Premier League club Liverpool at least until 2021 but this is a decision that has brought mixed reactions to the supporters of the English team as Mignolet has certainly made a number of impressive performances but there have been a few occasions in which the Belgian shot-stopper has let down the team.

Consistency is not the strong suit of Mignolet but nonetheless, it seems like everything he has done with Liverpool has been enough for him to secure his long term future in Anfield.

“I’m very pleased that I can be at Anfield and a part of Liverpool for a long future. I know signing a new contract comes with new responsibility. I’m getting older as well and coming into the years where people would say those are the years a ‘keeper is at his best. I know with a long-term contract, you get more responsibility and I want to take up that role because I’m the sort of character that wants to be a leader, wants to speak in the dressing room and wants to help the defence’’ Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet said as he expressed his happiness in signing a contract renewal.

The Belgian goal-keeper struggles when it comes to distributing the ball and trying to command his penalty area as he has made consistent errors throughout the last 3 Premier League seasons which has led to Liverpool dropping points on important matches. Danny Ings doing very well

Very few are able to come through the ranks as quickly as Danny Ings has done.

It’s not that long when he was featuring for Donchester Town, a division six team at that point of time.

Just a few seasons down the line from there, he would find himself rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in the circuit in the English Premier League.

The youngster has penned a Liverpool deal recently and he is absolutely over the moon to have joined a cub with such a history about it.

Talking about his new journey and what he is looking forward to, the forward who is only 22 at the moment, said, “I can’t express my excitement. To have this opportunity coming my way this soon, it’s unbelievable. But, I know I need to work on my game even more if I have to prove myself at this level.”

“You can never allow yourself to get complacent as a player and I am not such a character to take things for granted. I believe improvement is the key for a young player and for that, you always have to put the hard yards.”

When asked about Brendan Rodgers and how he sees him as a Football manager, Ings said, “He deserves a lot of respect for his work at Liverpool over the recent years. If you are a youngster, he is exactly the type of person you want to work with because he would always back you and would give you a lot of opportunities.” Continue reading Danny Ings doing very well

Brendan Rodgers has refused to criticise Steven Gerrard

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has refused to criticise Steven Gerrard for playing a huge role in the 2-1 defeat against Manchester United. The Liverpool captain came on as a substitute at half-time, but his influence on the match lasted just 38 seconds after he was sent off for a clear stamp on Ander Herrera.

Gerrard had made a crunching tackle on Juan Mata only seconds before. The sending-off changed the game in many ways. Even though it helped Liverpool get a late equaliser through Daniel Sturridge, they were unable to push on and get the much-needed equaliser.

There was a feeling that Liverpool would not have conceded the second goal in the 59th minute if Liverpool had the full complement of players. The club could not question the decision taken by referee Martin Atkinson, as the Liverpool midfielder intentionally made a stamp onHerrera. Gerrard was expected to make a major impact in the match – after having done so in the last eight Manchester derbies. This match was especially important to the 34-year-old, as it would be his last Manchester Derby. Gerrard is leaving for LA Galaxy at the end of the season. He has already spoken about helping Liverpool finish in the top four and lift the FA Cup title before departing. Continue reading Brendan Rodgers has refused to criticise Steven Gerrard

Tony Pulis speculates of Saido leaving Club in January

West Brom manager Tony Pulis has admitted that striker Saido Berahino could leave the club before the end of the January transfer window amidst interest from Liverpool. It is believed that the Merseyside outfit are ready to cut their losses on Mario Balotelli and bring inBerahino.

The England U21 international has been in fine form this season and his nine goals is significantly better than Balotelli, who is yet to open his league tally for the season.Berahino is reportedly valued in excess of £ 25 million by West Brom and Pulis has said that the club will sell him only if they receive an unbelievable offer.

Berahino was a relatively unknown quantity just 12 months ago, but he has come through into the first-team by showing incredible maturity and composure for his age. Continue reading Tony Pulis speculates of Saido leaving Club in January

Lawrenson wants Liverpool to sell Johnson

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson says that he expects his former club to finally sell defender Glen Johnson during the January transfer window. The former Chelsea right back was brought to Liverpool in 2009 for £ 16 million from Portsmouth. He has been a major hit at Anfield after being first-team regular from the start. Johnson has not had much competition in his position, but this has finally changed after the arrival of Javi Manquillo in the summer. The Atletico Madrid player may have joined only a loan deal, but Liverpool have the option to buy him on a permanent basis in the summer.

Looking at the performances of the young Spaniard, it is looking highly likely that Liverpool will not think twice about parting with the £ 6 million transfer fee thought to be demanded by Atletico.

Johnson is on the wrong side of 30 and his performances in recent months have not inspired a lot of confidence in the team. A succession of injury problems coupled with poor form have seen Johnson lose his first-team spot to the likes of Javi Manquillo. Lawrenson also says that manager Brendan Rodgers does have enough options in the youth academy with the likes of Jon Flanagan pushing for a starting spot.

“Roy Hodgson effectively called time on Glen Johnson’s England career last week. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the right-back finds himself heading elsewhere in the New Year. Having not yet been given a new contract, it’s clear Johnson is not part of Liverpool’s long-term plans, with Javi Manquillo and, when fit, Jon Flanagan vying for the right-back slot.

Johnson can walk away from Anfield for nothing in the summer. So I’d expect the Reds to look to cash in on him in January,” said Lawrenson. Johnson’s contract expires in the summer and there have been no new talks.
